This past weekend we went on a date to a Balloonfest in a neighboring town. This was the 26th year celebrating the Balloonfest. General admission was free, but we did pay $5.00 for parking, which was close to the launch field. Balloons came from all over the place (in state and out of state). There were a lot of activities over the three days. They had different bands play. The band playing on Saturday was named Krush. There was a kids fun zone, which included a bungee cord trampoline, bounce houses, rock climbing wall and pony rides. There were also delicious food vendors, homemade craft tables and of course balloons.
We were unable to see the balloons fly because of the wind. They were afraid the balloons would not be able to come back down in time for the Ballon Glow. The Ballon Glow is were the balloons light up to choreographed music against the dark sky. That was so fun to watch. They played The Isley Brothers Shout, Miley Cyrus Party in the USA, the song from frozen and a few more. My favorite was Shout by the Isley Brothers. We actually got to see The Isley Brothers when Tomo graduated from Berklee back in May. They received Honorary Degrees.
We ate dinner before we went (ginger pork) so we only bought dessert while we were watching the balloons (an elephant ear, funnel cake, and kettle popcorn). We couldn’t decide on which one to get so we bought all three. They had all kinds of food vendors. They had Italian sausages, Indian bread, walking tacos, lemonade, fries, buffalo burgers, cobbler, BBQ, popcorn, pizza and others that I can’t remember. As we were leaving we bought an Italian sausage and ate it in the car. It was really delicious. I did not take a picture of it because the only thought on my mind was eating it.
We had a lot of fun and will go again next year. Next year, I hope to remember folding chairs because we forgot them and had to stand the entire time.
